Good grief

I must be missing something. Illegal aliens Undocumented workers are planning on closing down cities Monday with a boycott and a million person march. They have recorded the Star-Spangled Banner in Spanish. I can't imagine this is going to do anything except spark a huge backlash. I lean way left but this beginning to seriously piss me off.

Also, I didn't know until today that in New Jersey and Oregon there is no such thing as self-service gas. That blows my mind. I think I could count on one hand the number of gas stations in Atlanta that even offer full service now.

Speaking of weird laws, [info]jimmymontrose will appreciate this one. In Mobile, Alabama, confetti is banned:
Sec. 39-77. Use, sale, etc., of confetti. It shall be unlawful and an offense against the city for any person to have in possession, keep, store, use, manufacture, sell, offer for sale, give away or handle any confetti or other substance or matters similar thereto, but not serpentine, within the city or within its police jurisdiction. (Code 1965, § 41-3)

There is no mention of feather boas however.

The mention of confetti and [info]jimmymontrose made me think of this guy:

I think he'd be thrilled that you think of them in the same thought.

The other night I confused his Little Richard wig as an ironic take on this guy's toupee, only I thought it was MARTIN MULL. He was a good sport about it, but I think he was a little offended. Oops!

Um, yeah, I'm gonna walk some kids outta school to a rally. Right. And that unicorn over there by that pot of gold is gonna come fly me away to go on a dinosaur ride with Santa Claus.

Do you think a lot of kids will be out?

Well, doesn't really matter at our school. I can count the number of Hispanics here with one hand. I'm sure students in higher-population areas might take advantage of it (Dallas recently had lots of students skipping to "go to rallies").

No...but I wish I could ban stuff I hate. First on my list: flip flops. Second on my list: mayonnaise cannot be put on any food product without informed writted consent.

RE: Mayonnaise Manifesto -- You would make a benevolent and wise leader. You have my support.

I am an undocumented worker too.

At work this morning, I was asked by some H.R. person to produce a copy of my medical license. Because my license is in a frame in my home office/guest bedroom, I was unable to comply.

Is it a nice frame?

Re: I am an undocumented worker too.

You shall be deported, as you are leeching off our services. GO HOME!

I think there's going to be a backlash too... but in a weird way I'm also kind of pleased to see that people are pissed off enough about SOMETHING to take it to the streets in such a big way.

It's kind of amazing to me that the only reaction to all the damage Bush is doing has been "record low approval ratings."

Too bad that many/most of these protestors aren't actually American citizens. Maybe the illegals want the right to vote Bush out office, too.

Didn't Bush carry a pretty high percentage of the Hispanic vote?
